This year, Democrats and Republicans in Florida found themselves at odds over a policy area that both believe to be critically important – K-12 Education. The state’s education agenda has been a point of contention and controversy for policymakers on both sides of the aisle, who have very different perspectives on what needs to be prioritized in the classroom.
The ongoing regulatory changes to Florida’s education systems have left parents, teachers, and policy staff conflicted on how to move forward in a way that will ultimately be most beneficial to students. Navigating these new standards has been a challenge for many school districts, and particularly for educators trying to understand, implement, and operate within new constraints. Unless Democrats and Republicans are able to find common ground, this strain will likely persist and continue to impact students across the state.
