Environment and climate are a top priority in New York, and policymakers cite a variety of challenges with waste disposal, climate shifts, and pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency recently granted the state $84 million to help address pollution, specifically water contamination. Policymakers are also concerned about waste and want to see better protocols for disposing of trash and other toxic materials. Environment has been top of mind, resulting in policymakers passing a new piece of legislation called the Green Amendment that ensures the right to clean air and water for residents.
