State policymakers have discussed the role of the oil and gas industry in contributing to climate change, the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, and natural disasters, with many perceptions split. Regardless of party affiliation, California policymakers are concerned with the impact of climate change in the state, and see an opportunity for private industries to increase their social responsibility efforts as a means to building a more climate-resilient state.
