Housing is a top priority for almost 60 percent of California policymakers, who express concerns about the rising costs of homes and the resulting effects on the homeless population, economy, and other welfare aspects in the state. Almost half of the policy staff we spoke to indicate that they want to see more collaboration between the private and public sectors to help create more affordable housing options, and note that current government regulations are creating additional challenges for this goal.
